Tips On What To Blog About To Make Money From Julie Coffman

how to choose what to blog about1. Please tell us your name and a little bit about your blog. Do leave the URL.

My name is Julie Coffman and I show entrepreneurs how to build a full-time income with an online business over at The Savvy Blogger. It’s my intention to teach step-by-step how to start, build, monetize, and grow a successful blog.

2. Tell us why you chose to blog on this niche? What is your inspiration?

I started The Savvy Blogger as a place for me to not just tell people how to build an online business, but also to show them. I launched this blog in July of last year to document my personal journey of building niche sites and I also thoroughly review blogging and internet marketing related products – like courses, training guides, plugins, etc. – to help other bloggers find great business-building products and tools and to make the best buying decision possible.

I’m inspired by the “freedom-based, laptop lifestyle.” I love that this business can help us live lives of complete freedom: we can live where we want, go where we want, do what we want, when we want. Stay-at-home moms can build a solid income stream that allows them to be home with their kids. Retirees can supplement social security income and pensions. Even entrepreneurial kids can build a business online at a young age (maybe with mom and dad’s help!)

Having an online business is the best job in the whole world.

3. Please share your top advice to a struggling blogger or someone starting to blog – what should be their most important criteria when it comes to choosing what they should blog about?

If someone is just starting out, I recommend they first brainstorm what they’re passionate about and thoroughly research those topics with a keyword tool (or two) and that they look at the competition for the niches that sound the most appealing. I also encourage new bloggers to consider they type of audience they’ll be speaking to – a product-focused site speaks to buyers and may be more lucrative than a site that caters to information seekers (though both can be very profitable.)

If a blogger is struggling, the first thing I look at is their niche. If they chose a niche where people are just not buying, that’s a big red flag. If they chose a niche that’s highly competitive, we talk about that niche taking longer to be profitable (but it’s not impossible to win a competitive niche.) And I also look at the keywords a blogger is targeting. If they’re targeting broad keywords, I encourage them to try an narrow their focus, looking for more descriptive – and less competitive – keywords.

I think the most important things to think about when choosing a niche is what problem(s) you’re solving for your reader and whether or not the niche will make money. Of course, passion is important. That’s why I start brainstorming with passion in mind. But when I’ve narrowed down the topics I’m passionate about and I’m choosing a niche, I want to know that I’m somehow easing the pain my reader is feeling around a particular topic and that there’s money to be made from the content I’m providing.

Tips From Lesley Stevens On How To Choose What To Blog About

what to blog about to make money1. Please tell us your name and a little bit about your blog. Do leave the URL.

My blog is a toy blog and it has pictures and videos of all the best toys my kids receive, either from me or relatives. You can find my blog at https://www.best-gifts-top-toys.com

2. Tell us why you chose to blog on this niche? What is your inspiration?

I chose the niche because what mom with four kids doesn’t have a ton of cool toys around her house?  I wanted to be able to include my kids in the blogging with me and it seemed like a good fit.

3. Please share your top advise to a struggling blogger or someone starting to blog – what should be their most important criteria when it comes to choosing what they should blog about?

Don’t try to be perfect from the get go, just start somewhere. Most important criteria is that you are not chasing the sale but offering value where you have expertise or experience.

Blog Niche Selection Tips From Jared Kimball

1. Please tell us your name and a little bit about your blog. Do leave the URL.

what to blog about make moneyMy name is Jared Kimball and I created my blog http://emailsalesmachine.com to help small businesses launch sales generating email campaigns quickly.

Whether someone is just starting with blogging or running a small business email marketing (especially the automation side of things) can feel overwhelming.

People are seeking answers on things like, “What incentives can I create for my visitors?” or “What does a typical autoresponder look like”?

I try to make things easier on my readers by creating super in depth guides like my Drip Campaign Ultimate Guide (that’s practically a free course – at least that’s what one of the commenters said).

Although email can seem like a dry topic it is one of the most important parts of every blog. It is the most profitable marketing medium you can use, so you want to make sure you get it right and up and going quickly.

2. Tell us why you chose to blog on this niche? What is your inspiration?

I chose email automation because I know it through and through. I’ve created strategies, plans, email content and have launched thousands of email campaigns so I figure I’ve got some insights many other people might not have when it comes to email automation.

Also, it’s an exciting topic. There are few mediums where you can send out a message and literally watch sales and real money enter your bank account as people click on links and whip out their credit cards to buy.

3. Please share your top advise to a struggling blogger or someone starting to blog – what should be their most important criteria when it comes to choosing what they should blog about?

The most important criteria comes down to two different types of criteria.

Criteria Type #1: Choose something you are really interested in but are an absolute beginner at and share your journey on your blog. For example, if you’ve always dreamed of baking beautiful and delicious cakes but you don’t even know how to boil an egg. Then start at ground zero share your baking projects (the wins, failures, learnings and emotional ups and downs) with your readers.

Criteria Type #2: Choose something you are really good at. It could be practically any skill you have – do you build things, write, make videos, paint murals, or etc.
Skills aren’t the only thing. What do people always ask you advice about? Ask a few of your friends, “Hey, what would you say I’m really good at?” Listen to their answers, because there’s a gold in the words they use to describe you.

Awesome Tips To Find The Best Niche To Make Money On Your Blog From Emily Liou

what to write about to make money1. Please tell us your name and a little bit about your blog. Do leave the URL.

I’m Emily over at CultiVitae, a career blog that strives to help millennials in transition reach their career goals by providing trusted advice and high-quality resources. Topics include resume tips, cover letter tips, job search tips, insider perspectives, negotiation tips, interview tips, etc. Lots of career tips!

2. Tell us why you chose to blog on this niche? What is your inspiration?

As a former recruiter and current career coach, I always found the topic of career fascinating. It’s such a large aspect of our lives yet there is no clear path for anyone. Every decision you make impacts your future opportunities. It sounds quite frightening at times!

With respect to career advice, there is so much literature out there and most of it is written in a dry and dull manner. Everyone feels like because you’re talking about professionals, you have to put on a ‘professional tone’. It’s striking to see people at a networking event or client meeting suddenly speak so proper, where a few minutes before walking into the building, they said, “Hey! What’s up?” to their friend. I wanted to provide career advice in a fun and refreshing tone for my readers. My career advice is written in the way I would talk to a friend at happy hour, while still providing trusted and sound advice from a hiring manager’s lens.

3. Please share your top advise to a struggling blogger or someone starting to blog – what should be their most important criteria when it comes to choosing what they should blog about?

One thing I learned early on is that consistency is key. If you publish a post once a week on Tuesday, keep that schedule because your readers will be disappointed when they don’t see anything. Overtime, if you stop blogging, they just won’t tune into your site anymore because you haven’t updated it.

That said, when you start a blog, ask yourself three things:
1. What is one topic I know a lot about and want to forever learn more about?
2. Do I enjoy talking about this topic and do I already share this information with other people?
3. Can I see myself excitedly writing about this subject matter?

The last question is important because a lot of time goes into blogging. You have to really be passionate about what you write about; otherwise, it will seem like a chore and that’s no fun! That’s when you stop writing and your readers stop tuning in. If you answered a resounding “yes” to all of the questions, you’ve found your topic!

Insightful Advice on Blog Niche Selection From Briana Marie

what to blog about to make money online1. Please tell us your name and a little bit about your blog. Do leave the URL

My name is Briana Marie. I run 2 blogs: Majorleaguemommy.com which focuses on all things parenting, kids, and family and theblueoptimist.com which focuses on spiritual development, mindset, and becoming the best version of yourself.

2. Tell us why you chose to blog on this niche? What is your inspiration?

I blogged for 2 years in the parenting niche alone because parenting, of course, is a MASSIVE part of my life and is also something I thoroughly enjoy. Initially, I started my Mom blog because I was a SAHM after having my second child and I just wanted to connect with other parents and entertain myself. I then found that sharing my experiences was really helping others as well so I stuck with it.

My second blog, The Blue Optimist, was actually something I started as I found myself constantly coaching others through rough times and trying different techniques to manifest the life I have always wanted for myself. This was something that I was actually known for and someone suggested that I start a blog on this subject because I am so extremely passionate about it. The spiritual development niche was something I was very much involved and interested in even outside of blogging so I created this blog to indulge in this subject even more and to reach more people trying to better themselves.

3. Please share your top advise to a struggling blogger or someone starting to blog – what should be their most important criteria when it comes to choosing what they should blog about?

If you choose a niche that you are truly passionate about, your blog will never feel like work.

Tips on What Should My Blog Be About From Lisa Machac

what should my blog be

1. Please tell us your name and a little bit about your blog. Do leave the URL.

My name is Lisa Machac and I’m a writer and blogger in Austin, Texas. I specialize in writing memoir, personal essay, blogs, and microblogs focusing on enhancing quality of life through mindfulness and mindful recreation, which includes reading, hiking, and meditation and yoga retreats. At some point while I was writing about retreats, I realized that people are eager to be able to practice mindfulness at home and not just when they are on vacation, so I started a blog called Genuine. Genuine helps people bring spiritual wisdom into their lives with very simple, every day practices.

2. Tell us why you chose to blog on this niche? What is your inspiration?

I noticed that when I wrote about yoga or meditation retreats, there were readers who felt that they were unable to attend a retreat. I believed that there was a need to bring that “retreat feeling”, of feeling inspired about your future, energized about your life, and grateful for your many gifts, to people’s every day lives. I am inspired to help create a peaceful world by helping people overcome worry and stress.

3. Please share your top advise to a struggling blogger or someone starting to blog – what should be their most important criteria when it comes to choosing what they should blog about?

I recently read advice from Jason Fried where he asked, “What is someone going to stop doing when they start using your product?” I think this is a really great way to approach finding a niche. For me, I want to help people stop worrying. So, instead of crafting a big mission statement talking about all the things my blog WILL do for them, I talk about what it will stop them from doing: worrying. It’s very easy now to choose my content accordingly.

My biggest advice, however, is to start a “side blog” right away. I lead a training where I teach bloggers how to successfully use network marketing to boost their income, and I find that most bloggers are hyper-creative, coming up with a new idea every minute! Because I share that habit, I advise people to do what I did and immediately start another blog where they can get out all of the ideas that don’t fit into their main blog’s niche. I share the majority of my writing on my Medium page and that way, I can make sure I’m being very selective about what I share on Genuine. (Incidentally, don’t be surprised if your “side blog” becomes one of the top funnels for your primary blog!)

Fabulous Tips On How To Find The Best Niche For You From Chasa Fulkerson

1. Please tell us your name and a little bit about your blog. Do leave the URL.
Hi there! My name is Chasa Fulkerson, and my blog ChasaTravels.com is well, about travel. I write about domestic, international, outdoor activities, and a little about pen palling. I also have a couple of series that I have other writers collaborator with, all travel related. I am from Alabama, USA so that is where the domestic part comes in. There is a lot to discover in your own surroundings. I also give tips and reviews.

2. Tell us why you chose to blog on this niche? What is your inspiration?
I didn’t know I even wanted to start blogging till about a year ago. I always loved writing, but not the kind of writing you did at school. I loved writing to other people, sending and receiving mail. I always wanted to learn about other cultures. This is where pen palling came in. Started writing in 2010. I took my first international trip in 2013 and I have been hooked since. I knew at 26 this is what I wanted to do. I wanted to write and tell everyone about it. Which is why I started writing (The forbidden writing I didn’t like to do when I was younger) The inspiration originally came from pen palling and learning about how other people live, but on a more personally note. Then once I went international in 2013, came home, waited a few years, it just hit me out of the blue. Writing and traveling is something I am passionate about. This is what I want to do with my life. This is what I enjoy. This is what I can spend hours talking or writing about and never get tired of it.

3. Please share your top advise to a struggling blogger or someone starting to blog – what should be their most important criteria when it comes to choosing what they should blog about?
It is going to be hard in the beginning. It’s even going to hard after the beginning. The whole process, finding your niche and then setting everything up you need to for your website. Don’t give up and do not compare others success to yours. You will get there. The hardiest part is seeing others doing so well and feeling you will never get there. You will get there! It may take you 6 months, a year or even 10 years, but if it’s want you want, you will not give up.
